About AdjAngst

AdjAngst is a collective of writers interested in word use, word meaning, causal relationships and meaning, and the wide wonderful world of nomology.

Rocks with erosion in pattern of grids
We write about adjectives, definitions, categories, metaphors, nomological networks and that pervasive sense of angst about meaning. This lends itself to some silly and some serious social commentary at times. We avoid allegories, but we love a good framework, model or Venn diagram. Especially frameworks that look like these rocks.

The writers

Fred F Shivvin, grew up and based in Canberra, and studied languages and communication studies. Worked as writer for various businesses, in policy positions, and now freelance writing. Interests include nomology, classification theory, human language use and history, linguistics, philosophy. Oh and words. (Fred doesn't have a favourite colour, so was happy to let Mae pick the colour for the blog.)

Mae F Wright, grew up and based in Brisbane, studied health services and early childhood. Worked as a research assistant and as policy officer. Interests include gender, scientific research and its interpretation and misuse, child development, human reasoning, visual language. Oh and words. (Mae's favourite colour happens to be purple.)

Dr MFB (Mike) Lundy, early childhood was in Brisbane (after his family migrated to Australia) and now based in Melbourne. (Mike is a Anglicising of his Icelandic name.) Has a doctorate in sociology. Worked in various government jobs in data analysis, now a lecturer in research methods. Interests include human behaviour and social policy, economics, crime and anti-social behaviour, statistics understanding and use. Oh and words. (Mike is very interested in what our favourite colour says about our social identity.)

The blog and Facebook page are currently administered by Fred.
